Over 200 Executive Pastors have taken the XP-Indicator and below is a compilation of their views. To understand the chart, let's use the metaphor of the church as a racing car.
With strong Administrative Function, XPs manage the church. They keep the engine finely tuned, with plenty of spare parts in the garage
With strong Catalyst Function, XPs work to invigorate various ministries and set the ethos for the church. XPs test new carburetors and replace worn out springs XPs help instill the racing spirit on the team.
As very strong Mentors, XPs hone staff and volunteers XPs make sure that the mechanics are well trained and the support personnel are doing their jobs XPs promote some team members and replace ineffective workers.
With the Minister Function at the baseline, XPs do only a low to moderate amount of direct ministry XPs don't do a lot of driving on the road, but they are expert drivers XPs don't often fill the gas or replace the shocks.
As strong Overseers, XPs are a key leader in the church XPs make sure that the church is aligned with the vision of the Senior Pastor and Governing Board XPs ensure that the race car is on the right road Who wants a finely tuned car, going a 100 mph, but in the wrong direction? Whew, we made great time but got to the wrong city!
