Law & Clergy Conference
- Managing Risk for the 21st Century Church, February 27, 2009. Are you concerned about the many risks which might impact your church? Please forward this e-mail to the key people at your church who deal with (1) personnel and volunteers, (2) counseling, (3) IRS related issues, (4) construction, (5) children issues, (6) divorce alternatives, (7) charitable planning (8) State requirements (9) and other legal issues that all pastors and other clergy, administrators, elders, board members, deacons, financial managers and their attorneys need to know. The Hill Country Institute and the Austin Chapter of Christian Legal Society have prepared a program to assist pastors, church financial managers, elders, deacons, board members, lay leaders, and attorneys who are interested in learning more about these matters. We hope you will join us on February 27. This is a rare conference that is a cost effective way for church leaders to receive current insight and updates from attorneys who work in these areas. This conference is appropriate not only for churches, but also for synagogues, mosques and other similar non-profit entities.
Texas Information Technology Roundtable
- This year there will be a Texas Church IT Roundtable event in Dallas on February 23rd, 2009. The Texas CITRT (Church IT RoundTable) event will gather IT professionals from across Texas’s diverse churches and ministries together to interact and participate in big ideas, new dreams and new perspectives. I would like to personally invite you to this unique opportunity to meet with other Texas churches and ministries this coming February. You may be familiar with the National Church IT Roundtable events, but this will be a regional IT Roundtable event specifically for Texas ministries and the challenges we face. It will be a relaxed, unconference event with heavy focus on getting to know other IT Leaders and what they are doing. We know that in the current economic conditions it is difficult for church staff to attend conferences that’s why we’ve worked hard to make this a regional event with a very low cost ($15!) .

ECCU Plans Soul Care Retreat for Ministry Leaders
- For a financial institution, Evangelical Christian Credit Union (ECCU) has a unique mission statement—to increase the effectiveness of evangelical ministries. They pursue this mission primarily by providing banking solutions, but an upcoming event underscores their commitment to offering more than just financial resources. In this case, the resource is a soul care retreat, offering pastors and ministry leaders a full day to learn about and experience spiritual renewal. Those attending will be introduced to things like “sacred reading” of Scripture, listening prayer, and reflective disciplines such as journaling. They’ll also spend some time alone reflecting on their spiritual journey and time with colleagues talking about these experiences and how they might benefit their ministries. Read more.
Seminars with Aubrey Malphurs
- "As I’ve worked with many churches, I've been asked for help in certain areas of leadership. In particular the following topics continue to come up over and over again: hiring staff, working with your board, finances, developing your staff and lay leaders as well as other areas. I want to assist those who would like to become better equipped. Therefore, the Malphurs Group will offer several one day seminars on the following Mondays at a hotel near the D/FW Airport: October 6: How to Hire Staff and Survive to Celebrate It. November 3: How to Work With a Board. December 8: How to Raise Money for Your Ministry. Consider attending these seminars with your board or staff. Call Jennifer Walters at 469-585-2701 or e-mail her. The deadline to register for the October 6 seminar is September 18, 2008." —Aubrey Malphurs
CHAT
- Is it time for a church survey? The CHAT survey has gotten high marks for its ease of use and holistic approach to church health. You can complete the whole process in 30 days or less without hardly lifting a finger (except to click your mouse that is). It’s all conducted online and uses 10 biblically-based principles at the measurement grid. You’ll receive a full color report that’s easy to read and toplines the areas where your church is strong and the areas that need some attention. We give as much emphasis to the former as the latter aimed at making this is a productive listening, discussion, and planning exercise for your team rather than simply a report card on the church. Plus, the new revised CHAT survey gives you the option to add up to 10 custom questions. Use the XPastor code, RNXP, to save $100! Read more.
ECCU Launches New Relationship-Based Website
- Can a website be relational? Evangelical Christian Credit Union (ECCU) thinks so. When ECCU set out to revise its website, it didn’t want to merely change the look—it wanted to change the message. Now, instead of simply being a portal to find information, ECCU’s new website is a relationship-based resource for ministries. Read more.

Tim Bernstein, Bruce Dingman & ArdentSearchCo
- For a flat $25,000 Ardent does searches like Children's Pastor, Executive Pastor, CFO, and so forth. It doesn't do searches for Youth Pastor (they have too little experience usually to know if they'll do a truly excellent job), Worship Pastor (so creative they usually are not good managers) and Women's Ministries (women are usually to hard to move due to family considerations) ... but otherwise most pastor searches that are below the level that the Dingman Company works at.
