Overview
We are a dynamic, multi-age congregation with a great vision—looking to take the next step of growth. We need a strategic planner with a pastor’s heart to help us move forward with our desire to reach our community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, Masters’ degree preferred
- Licensed Ordained Minister
- Administrative experience in a large and growing church
- Extensive experience planning, budgeting, managing, and developing staff, managing multiple competing projects, solving problems, creating systems, analyzing results.
- Working knowledge of software, multimedia tools, and technology that facilitate efficient workflow and professional communication.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Senior Pastor in turning dreams into reality.
- Help coach staff in effective leadership and ministry accomplishment.
- Help design and implement effective evaluation methods for our ministries.
- Oversee the communication functions (internal and external) of the church.
- Oversee the stewardship efforts of the church, including a possible capital campaign in the near future.
Background
Indian River City United Methodist Church grew up with the Space Program and is now in its 46th year. It is multi-age and multi-style (60% contemporary; 40% traditional) with significant outreaches to the local community and the world (Morocco, Cuba, and Asia). Three years ago, we went through a vision planning process to discern how God might be leading us into the future. He gave us big dreams, including the hiring of an Executive Pastor to help us implement those dreams and increase our operational effectiveness.
The role of Executive Pastor is new to us, so the successful candidate will help shape that role as well as help us make the internal adjustments to move us beyond the 1000 threshold in worship.
We are a dynamic congregation trying to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit into the 21st Century. We see ourselves as in the business of building people and families for life. Part of this building process includes introducing people to Jesus Christ for the sake of finding eternal life. It also includes building people for abundant life here on earth through internal transformation and practical application of biblical truth.
